Local Tourist Information Centres and Shops

Visit Brecon

11 Lion Yard, Brecon LD3 7BA, UK – 01874 620860

Only opened recently to replace the closed tourist information centre in the car park. Visit Brecon has been set up by the Brecon Town Council to provide tourists and locals with a much needed information hub. It is staffed by one experienced person plus a willing team of volunteers. The interior whilst small already contains much of the original displays and leaflets with plans to develop further over time. A great start and somewhere I definitely recommend you visit.

I use the new Visit Brecon centre to look for ideas and events for my local beaver scout group. The centre is easy to find in the town and there is a short stay car park almost next to it.The staff inside are local and have all the up to date information to hand. They are able to help with computer plus paper information.Lots of maps available to buy and copies of the town map free.I needed information on walks in the Talybont on Usk area and canal area and picked up the free copies of that area which were great.Neatly laid out.Large display map inside is most helpful.Willing to help with accommodation needs and travel.Worth a visit.

The Brecon Beacons are gorgeous. It's also very accessible with lots of beautiful views that are visible from your car. If you'd like to get out and see the country, there are plenty of walks and pubs to visit after to recuperate.

A must if you are in Wales. But be prepared for change in weather. Wear desint clothing and footwear please.

Boat Trips & Excursions - if available

Dragonfly cruises and dayboats

Canal road, Brecon LD3 7EW, UK – 07831 685222

A wonderful trip out, lovely welcoming staff and a cream tea that was scrumptious. Well worth taking this two and a half hour trip, the views from the Aquaduct of Pen Y Fan in the distance and the river flowing underneath is a great photo opportunity. Plus you get to go through the lock too, yet another bonus.

Lovely trip on Dragonfly canal boat. Good commentary efficient and friendly Captain Tim and the gorgeous Andy serving cream scones and tea. Lush scenery.

Local Parks & Gardens

Homebase - Brecon

Brecon Enterprise Park, Warren Road, Powys LD3 8BT, UK – 0345 640 7843

Stock is what you would expect from a national chain however if you are looking for anything in the garden there is a brilliant garden centre only 20 mins away from Homebase However if you are after your typical DIY items you can’t go wrong with Homebase. Staff are very friendly however the prices are quite high check your local high street diy shop first if you can.

Shop isn't as tidy as it used to be and the house plant range is a bit limited. Staff are nice though and very helpful.

Great website!. Click below to find gardens open during the year around Llanddew or Powys. There are photos and lots of detail about the garden.
